Our overall aim is to remove all litter (especially plastic and metal waste) from 124 metres along the flood defence wall. Our current task is to make a safe path along the foreshore to reach the eastern end corner where lots of litter has accumulated.
We will meet on the Thames path for a welcome talk and safety briefing. All volunteers will need to wear their own wellies or walking boots for the event. We will all get kitted in PPE (hi-vis vest and gloves can be provided). We will provide litter pickers and tools. No one will be entering the water and the event will be during low tide. Please dress in old comfortable clothing that is suitable for the weather conditions on the day. The foreshore is muddy and the terrain is uneven with lots of rocks hidden under dead reeds.
All attendees must register in advance via eventbrite: https://Crossness-clean-up.eventbrite.co.uk
Meeting point: Thames path between Lytham Close (SE28 8QH) and the Crossness Pumping Station. What3words exact location is https://w3w.co/lovely.sailor.task
