  • Removing litter
We work hard to remove rubbish from the river, collecting
more than 200 tonnes every year. Find out how we do it.
  • Report your haul
If you’re like us, you find yourself tidying up whilst on walks.
Tell us what you’ve collected by filling in our litter survey.

Cleaning the Thames aims to encourage more litter removal across the foreshore of the Thames Estuary. By connecting volunteers with events along the tidal River Thames, Cleaning the Thames can help maximise the potential and impact of litter removal.

The Port of London Authority launched Cleaning the Thames litter map to help users find events near them and allow them to simply sign up by contacting the organiser.

To organise a litter clean-up, event organisers can register an account on Cleaning the Thames and create events in preapproved locations or use this link to request a new location for a clean-up. Once approved by our team, your event will become live and you can start cleaning up your local patch of the tidal River Thames.

What have you cleaned-up?
If you’re like us, you find yourself tidying up whilst on walks. Tell us what you’ve collected.

View upcoming events on our ‘litter map’ and select the dates that suit you best.

To book onto events, contact the organisers using the details provided.

Now it’s time to organise transport, get your wellies on and most importantly have fun while cleaning the Thames.
