Each September, the Marine Conservation Society hosts the Great British Beach Clean. Hundreds of people head to the coastline to clean up our beaches and record the litter they find there. This data is really important to inform policy changes and better protect our ocean from pollution.
We know that around 80% of marine litter finds it’s way into the ocean from inland sources, by making its way into drains, streams and rivers. So, we’re tracking litter back to its source and conducting inland litter surveys too.
Join us on the beach at 3pm on Monday 19th September at Festival Pier, London to get involved.
We will provide gloves litter pickers and bags, but please ensure you wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.
