Join us to make history!
This is our inaugural clean up of the foreshore at Crossness, Thamesmead SE28. It is hoped we will remove as much plastic and metal waste from 124 metres along the flood defence wall.
We will meet on the Thames path at 10am for a welcome talk and safety briefing. All volunteers will get kitted in PPE (hi vis vest and gloves) including wellies for those going on the mud foreshore. No one will be entering the water and the event will be during low tide. Please dress in old comfortable clothing that is suitable for the weather conditions on the day.
We will be monitoring a 10 metre stretch for the types of plastic litter as part of the Plasticblitz survey (running from 17-25 Sept). Our data will feed into an EU wide project studying plastic pollution.
All attendees must register with the organisers in advance so we can ensure we have the PPE for each volunteer. Please contact group leader Anji Petersen via email or phone.
Meeting point: Thames path at the end of the Ridgway. Nearest postcode SE28 8QH.

Don’t worry if you can’t make this event as we will be back on the foreshore to collect more litter. Watch this space!
